Hello friend :) I hope this reading finds you well. I have nothing new to report on our foster parenting. We are still waiting on the license process ( which we think should be about 2 more weeks). We are still excited and looking forward to the children to come. Continue to pray for us as we prepare.
I have to share a very unusual story with you. Last week a friend called and asked if we wanted a healthy baby that a 19 year old mother is due to have in 2 months. Did you get that? Someone called and asked ME if I wanted a baby? That's not a call you get everyday. The mother doesn't do drugs or drink or smoke. She is a white female who already has a two year old and doesn't want a baby. The baby's father has no interest in the baby as he has fathered 7 babies already. I hear he "makes his way around". What a sad story. This poor child isn't even born yet and his biological parents don't want him or her ( not sure if it's a boy or girl). Well, as wonderful as the opportunity sounds; and it sounds fabulous; we said no. We have our heart set on the ministry of being foster parents. However, the Lord did lead me to a new friend a few weeks back and she and her husband are wanting to adopt a baby, so I told them of the baby. Healthy babies have no trouble finding good homes, it's the orphan children that need us. God works in many ways through many people. We will see what unfolds. I am still amazed.
Lately I have been caring for my mom as she has diverticulitis. I took her to the ER on Saturday, July 31st for severe pain. She didn't get to leave until 11:35 pm. Once she was released and I took her home it was after midnight. I drove 11 miles from her house to mine in a torrential downpour. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I don't like to drive at night or in the rain. I had a double whammy :) I am not complaining mind you ... I was happy to be there for her. All the way home I felt the prayers of Chris and Olivia. In the midst of the storm I had a peace.
Isn't God so good to give us peace in the midst of storms. I was in a physical storm with flooding roads and bright lightning and it was scary, yet I was calm. Many times in life we go through "storms" but isn't it so good to know the Lord is with us in good times and bad. Trust and Obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. We are trusting his plan for our lives and trying to be obedient to the call. Satan is not happy and he is tossing "storms" in our path which is why we covet your prayers. Pray for my mom's health to be restored. Pray for this young mother and for the one to parent her baby. Pray for the children who will come to our home as foster kids. Pray for yourself to see if the Lord is leading you to foster a child in need.
Go be a blessing.
